MORE EMOTIONAL JOURNEYS...WITH BENOIT & SERGIO
The D.C. duo is back, and they've got a pair of emotionally-charged dance tracks for all you moody party people out there. These jamz are good for nights at club home, when all you need is a glass of wine and a pillow to scream into. I imagine they also work well in the actual clubs, but I wouldn't know about that ;)

SLY & THE FAMILY DRONE, "GREY MEAT"
Based on my most recent mix you probably think that it would be near impossible for da bishop to plunge any further into the darkness. Well, this hulking, beast of a track from Sly & The Family Drone is another dark, raw, and primal journey into the void, although slightly less mellow and more abrasive than the mix ;)
A self-proclaimed "primal orchestra," the track below, "Grey Meat," is the first offering from their new EP, Unnecessary Woe, due out in early November.

HOLY GHOST, "DYNAMICS"
Holy Ghost! just released their sophomore LP, Dynamics, on DFA, and it's a fantastic follow-up to to their self-titled debut. The above track, "Teenagers in Heat," is a non-album cut produced by James Murphy. I really dig their "emotional music for emotional people" vibe, and I think some of you jammerz out there will too. Below is album opener "Okay."

PETE SWANSON, "LIFE ENDS AT 30"
I saw Pete Swanson last night at MOTOR's bi-monthly show at Seattle's Lo-Fi venue. I hadn't heard much of Swanson before this, but damn, it was ridiculously dark, raw, and primal techno/noise. Unfortunately his set was cut short due to a blown speaker or something, but for 15-20 minutes he was 100% on point, with a slight "I don't give a fuck if you like this or not" scowl on his face. I'm not gonna lie, this is some abrasive stuff, even for delicate flowers such as myself, but if your musical sweet spot lies on the fence between dance and noise, then you'll find plenty to like on the Punk Authority EP, which is out now on Software.

MELANCHOLIC WANDERINGS VOL. 7: SUMMER'S END EDITION
It's the middle of August, I know, but there's a lingering feeling that summer's winding down. Summer romances have come and gone, and I'm looking at the next month and all I see is that 9-5 darkness. Here are a couple of choice sad bastard cutz for those late night broodz. So stop screaming into your pillow and jam out for a few minutes :) :)

HENRY THE RABBIT
Henry the Rabbit is the side project of Halasan Bazar's drummer. His latest release, Earthen Birth By, was just released by the inimitable Moon Glyph label, who have also released a tape by his other band. The 9 tracks that make up this tape are in the self-described style of "psychedelic ukulele skiffle," as heard in the above tunes. The tape came out earlier this summer, but it's worth a few listens, as the days get shorter and the nights get cooler (and I no longer feel the urge to scream into my pillow). Hope you dig this one, jammerz!
